We are looking for excited and motivated individuals to volunteer as event staff for Tanjerine 2014. The events will take place over the course of four days – Wednesday, April 16 through Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 7 pm until midnight each evening. All four events will be held at The Sanctuary on Penn, located at 701 N. Pennsylvania Street in Indianapolis. Tanjerine 2014 will feature over 25 food and beverage vendors, unique fashion exhibits and performances, a craft cocktail competition, a dozen craft beers, local and national film screenings, a “test kitchen” and so much more!
Tanjerine is in its first year and would not be possible without the assistance of our wonderful volunteers. The combined efforts of everyone involved will make this event unforgettable. Your interest in assisting is greatly appreciated.
Tanjerine is seeking volunteers to help with the following:
Promotions/Marketing- Getting the word out online and at events from now through April 19, 2014.
Photography/Videography/Multimedia Production- Assisting photographers and videographers with documenting the events.
Event Production- Building Preparations, A/V Set-Up, Event Breakdown, etc. (April 14 – April 21, 2014)
Event Staff- Admissions, Guest Relations, Stage Management, Participant Assistance, Runners, etc. (April 16 – April 19, 2014)
Please note that all volunteers must attend one of the two mandatory Volunteer Orientation Meetings. We have scheduled two Volunteer Orientation Meetings for your convenience:
- MEETING 1: April 14, 2014 – 8:00 PM
- MEETING 2: April 15, 2014 – 8:00 PM
Volunteers, depending on their assignment, will work with one or more of the following people:
Event Founder/Director – Ryan Hickey
Operations Director – Laurel Pitt
Event Manager – Maureen Miller
Volunteering prior to Tanjerine 2014:
All persons who volunteer for Tanjerine prior to the event for a minimum of four (4) hours will be given one (1) general admission ticket to Tanjerine 2014. Volunteers assisting with promotions/marketing and/or photography, videography/multimedia will be given free access to the events at which you volunteer. Volunteers will meet with a Tanjerine Volunteer Coordinator at the venue or other specified location and will be given an agenda at the beginning of their shift. Volunteers are expected to diligently and professionally complete all tasks to which they are assigned.
Volunteering the night of Tanjerine 2014:
Volunteers who work at Tanjerine 2014 will act as Tanjerine Ambassadors and will assist patrons and participants within the event. It is very important to be both equipped with knowledge of Tanjerine, as well as to know when to ask for assistance. We will provide you with detailed plans and information about the event, however, do not be afraid to admit to a patron or participant that you need to ask for assistance if you are unsure about a question or issue that arises.
Volunteer shifts on the night of the event are split into two (2) four (4) hour shifts:
Shift 1 - 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Shift 2 - 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM
All volunteers must arrive at the building the night of the event at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their shift.
Please note that volunteers are not allowed to drink alcohol during their shift. You are welcome to purchase drinks at the bar at Tanjerine after you’ve worked your shift (if you work the early shift please do not drink before or during your shift).
We pride ourselves on running a fine-tuned event and hope that everyone will take pride in being a part of Tanjerine. Please be courteous to all patrons, participants, staff and security so that everyone’s experience can be as enjoyable as possible.
No smoking is allowed in the building. Please direct all patrons to smoke outside.
Parking is available in lots adjacent to the venue property (directly to the south). These lots are ONLY available AFTER 5pm. Otherwise; metered street parking is available nearby, as well.
Tanjerine will provide each Event Staff volunteer with a Staff credential which must be worn at all times during your shift (these will be handed out when you check in the night of your shift). Please note that these are NOT to be transferred to anyone who is not a volunteer at Tanjerine.
Event Staff Volunteers will also receive one (1) ORANJE tee shirt to be worn during your shift. Please wear the ORANJE tee shirt (or a black shirt) AND your Tanjerine Staff badge while volunteering the night of the event.
All volunteers must sign a waiver to volunteer at Tanjerine 2014. Please be aware that hazards exist at the venue. The nature of this facility presents a number of irregular situations. Please use caution in and around the site of Tanjerine 2014 and alert your supervisor if you notice something that is potentially hazardous.
